Licensing

Last updated: 8 August 2026

Idem Est research products are licensed for use rather than sold outright.

This Licensing Policy applies to Idem Est reports, presentations, spreadsheets, databases, CSV files, trackers, maps, charts, forecasts and other research deliverables, including:

  • Country Data Packs;
  • Full Country Atlas products;
  • Quarterly Country Trackers;
  • Data Centre Intelligence Atlas products;
  • Starlink Subscriber Trackers; and
  • other standard or bespoke research products.

Your purchase gives you a limited right to use the relevant product in accordance with the licence below. Ownership of the underlying research, data compilation, models, methodologies and intellectual property remains with Idem Est or its licensors.

1. Standard licence

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Idem Est products are supplied under an Internal Business Use Licence.

This licence allows the purchasing organisation and its authorised employees to:

  • access and analyse the purchased research;
  • use the data in internal models and analysis;
  • incorporate findings, charts and extracts into internal presentations and reports;
  • use CSV and Excel files within internal analytical systems;
  • use forecasts and estimates for internal planning, benchmarking and decision-making; and
  • create internal derivative calculations or analysis based on the licensed research.

The licence is limited to the organisation that purchased the product unless otherwise stated in the quotation, invoice, order confirmation or separate agreement.

2. Internal sharing

Licensed products may be shared internally with employees of the purchasing organisation who reasonably require access for their work.

The underlying files must not be shared with:

  • clients;
  • external advisers or consultants;
  • affiliated companies outside the licensed organisation;
  • investors;
  • suppliers;
  • business partners; or
  • any other third party,

unless Idem Est has agreed otherwise in writing.

Where broader group, team or enterprise access is required, please contact Idem Est to arrange an appropriate licence.

3. Equity research and investment use

Licensed investment professionals, including equity analysts, investment analysts, portfolio managers and research teams, may use Idem Est data and research within their own internal financial models, valuation work, investment analysis and research processes.

An analyst may use conclusions derived from Idem Est research when preparing their own original analysis.

However, the licence does not automatically permit publication or redistribution of Idem Est’s underlying datasets, spreadsheets, databases, substantial tables or proprietary research.

For example, a licensed equity analyst may use Starlink subscriber estimates within an internal subscriber or revenue model.

They may also refer to selected Idem Est findings in published research where permitted under Section 4 below.

They may not attach, reproduce or redistribute the Starlink Subscriber Tracker itself or provide recipients with a substitute for the Idem Est product.

4. External publication and attribution

Reasonable extracts, individual data points and selected charts may be reproduced externally where:

  • the use is incidental to the user’s own original analysis;
  • Idem Est is clearly identified as the source;
  • the extract does not reproduce a substantial part of the underlying product or database;
  • the use does not enable a third party to reconstruct the Idem Est dataset; and
  • the material is not used to create a competing research or data product.

Suggested attribution:

Source: Idem Est Research & Advisory

Where a chart has been modified or additional calculations have been applied, an appropriate attribution is:

Source: Idem Est Research & Advisory; analysis by [organisation]

Large-scale publication, recurring redistribution, data feeds, client redistribution or incorporation of Idem Est data into commercial products requires prior written permission.

5. What is not permitted

Unless expressly authorised by Idem Est, you must not:

  • resell or sublicense an Idem Est product;
  • forward the original Excel, CSV, PowerPoint or other research files outside the licensed organisation;
  • publish or distribute a substantial part of an Idem Est database;
  • provide third parties with access to the licensed product;
  • upload or make the product available through a public or shared data repository;
  • use the research to build a competing commercial database, tracker or research product;
  • systematically extract or reproduce Idem Est data for redistribution;
  • remove Idem Est copyright, source or proprietary notices; or
  • represent Idem Est research as your own original research.

6. Artificial intelligence and automated systems

Licensed products may be analysed using internal analytical, data science or artificial intelligence tools where access remains controlled by the licensed organisation.

Idem Est products must not be uploaded to publicly accessible artificial intelligence services, public model-training datasets or third-party systems where the material may be retained, redistributed or used to train models for unrelated users, unless expressly agreed by Idem Est.

Use of an internal enterprise AI system does not create any right to redistribute or commercialise the underlying Idem Est research.

7. Trackers and updates

Subscriptions and recurring products, including Quarterly Country Trackers and Starlink Subscriber Trackers, provide access only for the subscription or delivery period specified in the applicable order.

Each update remains subject to the same licence.

A subscription does not transfer ownership of the underlying dataset, methodology or historical database.

Unless otherwise agreed, cancellation or expiry of a subscription does not require deletion of research previously supplied, but no further updates will be provided.

8. Bespoke research

Bespoke research and advisory deliverables may be subject to additional licensing conditions specified in the relevant proposal, quotation or statement of work.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, bespoke research is licensed for the commissioning client’s internal business use and Idem Est retains ownership of its pre-existing methodologies, models, databases, tools and research frameworks.

9. Third-party content

Some Idem Est products may incorporate or reference information from third-party sources.

Any third-party material remains subject to the rights and restrictions applicable to that material.

Your Idem Est licence does not grant rights that Idem Est itself does not hold.

10. Requests for broader use

We are happy to discuss broader usage rights where required.

Examples include:

  • enterprise-wide licences;
  • multi-entity or corporate group access;
  • consulting or advisory client use;
  • external publication;
  • investor or shareholder distribution;
  • inclusion in commercial research reports;
  • recurring publication of Idem Est data;
  • data feeds or API use; and
  • redistribution rights.

Additional licence fees may apply depending on the scope and intended use.

11. Relationship with our Terms

This Licensing Policy should be read together with the Idem Est Terms of Use.

Where a proposal, quotation, order confirmation or separately executed agreement grants different licensing rights, that agreement will take precedence for the relevant product.
